What's Included
What does Residential Poop Scooping include?
- 01
A walk of the areas your dogs use
Desert yards are rarely just lawn. Waste lands in rock beds, gravel paths, dirt runs, along block walls and on turf. When you request a quote, tell us which parts of the yard your dogs use so the visit covers them.
- 02
Waste bagged and taken care of
How waste is bagged and how it leaves your property, whether in your own trash bin or hauled away, is something we confirm with you when we set up service.
- 03
A schedule you pick
Some households want a weekly visit, some want every other week, and a home with several dogs may want more. The quote form asks what you have in mind, and we talk it through with you.
- 04
One-time cleanups
If the yard has gotten ahead of you, after a busy month, a move or a stretch of bad weather, ask for a one-time cleanup. You can decide on regular visits afterward, or not.
- 05
Gates, dogs and spots to skip
Every yard has its own details: a gate that sticks or locks, dogs that will be out during the visit, a garden bed or sandbox that should be left alone. If you rent, or share a side yard or dog run with another household, say who looks after which part. Share these details when you request a quote, so the follow-up conversation covers the ground you are responsible for.
- 06
Waste handled the way your city expects
Each place GP Scoops works has its own rule for dog waste that stays at home. El Paso's code lets residents put it in the regular trash cart, as long as it does not build up into a nuisance. Las Cruces wants it in a bag, tied shut, before it goes in the garbage container. Doña Ana County, whose rules cover unincorporated places such as Santa Teresa, wants it kept in a covered, watertight container that flies cannot get into. How waste leaves your yard after a visit should fit the rule where you live, and that is settled when service is set up.

When You Need It
When do you need Residential Poop Scooping?
If any of this sounds familiar, it's time.
Most people do not call a poop scooping service because they cannot pick up after their dogs. They call because the job keeps sliding, the yard keeps filling, and the summer heat makes the problem impossible to ignore.
- 01
The yard smells before you see it
In El Paso and Las Cruces summers, heat makes waste smell more, especially in rock beds and along walls that hold the afternoon sun. Regular pickup keeps it from building up between your own cleanups.
- 02
You have more than one dog
Two or three dogs produce more than most people want to handle every few days. Tell us how many dogs you have in the quote form so the schedule matches the amount of waste.
- 03
Kids play in the backyard
If children use the same yard as the dogs, keeping waste picked up means fewer surprises on shoes, bikes and balls. You can ask for a schedule that lines up with the days the yard sees the most use.
- 04
You are getting ready for guests or a party
A one-time cleanup before a gathering clears the yard so you can set up without dodging piles. It is also a simple way to try the service before you commit to a schedule.
- 05
You are moving in or moving out
Renters and military families moving on or off a property often need the yard clear for a walkthrough. Ask for a one-time cleanup and mention your move date so we can talk timing.
- 06
It is one more chore you are done with
Sometimes the reason is just time. Work, school and errands fill the week, and scooping is easy to hand off. A regular visit means you stop thinking about it.
- 07
Storm season is coming
When rain runs across a yard, it can pick up pet waste and carry it toward the nearest drain, wash or river. The EPA notes that this waste adds bacteria and nutrients to the water it reaches. Summer storms here are short and heavy, so a yard picked up before they arrive leaves less for the water to take.
- 08
You have been waiting for it to break down
It is easy to assume dog waste works like fertilizer and will take care of itself if you leave it. EPA guidance on pet waste names that idea as a common misconception, and points out that some owners who always pick up on walks do not do the same at home. Until it is picked up, waste in the yard is there for the next storm to carry toward the street.
- 09
You are not sure how often to book
If you are deciding between visit schedules, one outside reference point helps. University of California pest guidance suggests removing dog waste and other organic waste from a yard at least once a week, to take away places flies breed, and notes that house flies are most numerous in the hottest months. The number of dogs and how much of the yard they use matter too. The schedule is still yours to choose.
- 10
Flies gather around your trash can
If bagged dog waste goes in your household trash, the can itself can draw flies. University of California pest guidance suggests sealing pet waste and garbage in plastic bags before they go in, keeping a tight-fitting lid on the can, and keeping it away from the door you use most. It also suggests setting the can out for pickup every week, even when it is not full, and washing it out with soap and water now and then.
- 11
You wonder whether it is a health issue
It can be. CDC guidance for dog owners says dog poop can carry germs that make people and animals sick, and that it should be picked up even in your own yard, especially where children play. Roundworm is one example. CDC's parasite reference explains that roundworm eggs passed in dog waste take 1 to 4 weeks in the environment before they can infect anyone, and the CDC notes that severe cases are more likely in young children who play in contaminated dirt. Whoever does the picking up, the CDC also says to wash your hands afterward, even when you used a bag.
- 12
Your dog is due for a checkup
Pickup clears the yard. It does nothing for the dog. CDC's advice on roundworm starts with having a veterinarian test your dogs for worms and treat them, then picking up their waste every time and washing hands with soap and water after playing with pets. The two jobs cover different parts of the same problem, so if a checkup is overdue, book it alongside the cleanup.
- 13
A neighbor or the city has said something
Odor that crosses the fence is more than awkward. El Paso's animal code lists keeping an animal in a way that lets feces pile up into foul odors that bother the neighbors as a public nuisance, and Las Cruces code tells owners to keep their animals from becoming a nuisance to anyone else. If a complaint or a notice is what started your search, a one-time cleanup followed by a regular schedule is a practical place to begin. Mention the notice when you request a quote.
- 14
You are weighing doing it yourself
Plenty of owners scoop their own yards, and doing it well looks the same either way: every area the dogs use, on a steady schedule, with waste bagged and into a closed container and hands washed afterward. Handing it off makes sense when that schedule keeps slipping, when the yard is bigger than the time you have, or when nobody in the house wants the job in July. The quote form takes three answers, so asking costs you a few minutes.
