About Fort Bliss

We're proud to serve Fort Bliss.

A February 2025 Fort Bliss garrison policy tells pet owners in on-post housing to deal with their pets' waste promptly in their own yards. GP Scoops lists Fort Bliss among the six communities it serves, and for an on-post address it confirms what installation access allows before anything is scheduled. Request a quote, and we will talk through your address.

Why does GP Scoops serve Fort Bliss?

Military life makes yard upkeep harder than it sounds. A spouse may be handling the house alone during a deployment or field training. A permanent change of station can come with weeks of notice, and a move-out often means the yard has to be ready for a walkthrough. Regular pickup, or a one-time cleanup before a move, takes one task off a long list.

A little about Fort Bliss

Fort Bliss is a large U.S. Army installation on the northeast side of El Paso, and its training lands stretch north into New Mexico. Many soldiers and their families live in on-post housing, and many more live off post in nearby El Paso neighborhoods. Either way, they share the same desert weather as the rest of the city: hot summers, little rain outside the monsoon season, and spring wind. Some maps list Fort Bliss as a place of its own rather than part of El Paso, which is why it has its own page here.

Family housing on post is privatized. Under the Army's Residential Communities Initiative, the garrison partners with Balfour Beatty Communities to build new homes and renovate older ones, and residents know the result as Fort Bliss Family Homes. Families heading off post get a different instruction: the garrison asks service members to check in with its Housing Services Office before they rent, lease or buy, and not to send a deposit before they do.

Yards and dogs in Fort Bliss

The garrison's Animal Control Policy, signed in February 2025, spells out what pet owners on post are expected to do. A dog needs a microchip tied to the owner's real home address and a collar carrying an ID tag and a current rabies tag, and the policy states that vaccines given in Mexico are not accepted. Families in Fort Bliss Family Homes are limited to 2 dogs, 2 cats, or 1 of each, unless housing grants a waiver.

The same policy is direct about waste and space. Owners must clean up after their pets promptly in their own yards and homes, and carry bags in common areas, pet areas and public spaces so waste ends up in a designated bin. Dogs may be off leash only inside a fenced yard, at home or in an installation dog park, and pets may not be tied up outside and left alone. A dog kept outside for a short time needs shelter from heat, sun and rain, and owners away for more than 10 to 12 hours are asked to arrange care.

Because installation access rules apply to service providers too, GP Scoops confirms what is possible for an on-post address before anything is scheduled. If you live off post, in Northeast or East El Paso for example, service works the same as anywhere else in El Paso. If you are assigned to Fort Bliss but live in Horizon City, or across the state line in Sunland Park, Santa Teresa or Las Cruces, your town has its own page here. Either way, mention your move date if you are moving, so we can talk about a one-time cleanup.

    More than pickup

Deodorizing and sanitizing, turf cleaning and waste stations are part of the menu. Ask about the free deodorizer and sanitizer treatment.

Fort Bliss FAQ

Common questions about service in Fort Bliss.

If your question isn't on the list, give us a call.

Can you service on-post housing at Fort Bliss?

That has to be confirmed for your address first, because installation access and housing rules apply to service providers. Mention that you live on post when you request a quote. The gate information the post published in early 2024 said contractors without a Department of Defense Common Access Card need a Fort Bliss access pass or badge, and members of the public need a background check at a Visitor Control Center before they get a pass. Those rules can change, so check the current official access guidance too.

What should I share if someone else will be the contact?

The name and number of whoever will be home or holding the gate key, and whether the dogs stay out during the day. If you are leaving for training or a deployment, mention the dates so the schedule can be talked through with the right person.

Do you do move-out yard cleanups?

Yes. Choose One-time cleanup in the quote form and include your move date in step two so we can talk about timing.

I live off post near Fort Bliss. Is that different?

Off-post homes in El Paso are served the same way as any other El Paso address, and the City of El Paso's pet rules cover them.

Does my dog need to be registered on post?

Yes, under the February 2025 policy. Dogs and cats living on or visiting the installation are registered with the Fort Bliss Veterinary Treatment Facility, and those in family housing with the Fort Bliss Family Homes community center as well. Check with both offices for the current process.

Who handles a stray dog in on-post housing?

The garrison's policy sends reports of stray or wild animals in housing areas to the Fort Bliss Family Homes community center, and in other parts of the installation to the Directorate of Public Works service order desk. Residents are told not to feed strays.

Where does GP Scoops work?

El Paso, Horizon City and Fort Bliss in Texas, and Sunland Park, Santa Teresa and Las Cruces in New Mexico.

I live just outside those areas. Can you still come?

Ask. Include your address in your quote request, and we will tell you whether your street is on our list.

How do I get a price?

Send the short quote form or call. Price depends on details like how many dogs you have, your yard, and how often you want service, and GP Scoops goes over it with you before any service starts.

What schedules can I choose?

The quote form lets you say what you have in mind: weekly, every other week, twice a week, a one-time cleanup, or not sure yet. We talk through the options when we follow up.
