Fly & Wasp Control in El Paso, TX and Southern New Mexico
Fewer flies, starting with the yard.
Flies follow dog waste. The most reliable step against them is keeping the yard picked up. Ask GP Scoops what fly and wasp options are available at your address alongside regular pickup. Describe the problem and your address so GP Scoops can confirm which options are available.
- Regular waste pickup
- A look at problem areas
- A straight answer on what we can do
- A look at other fly sources
What's Included
What does Fly & Wasp Control include?
- 01
Regular waste pickup
House flies lay eggs in fresh waste. Removing waste regularly takes away one of the main places flies breed in a backyard, which is why pickup comes first.
- 02
A look at problem areas
When you ask about fly or wasp problems, tell us where you see them: around the trash bins, the dog area, the patio, or under the eaves.
- 03
A straight answer on what we can do
We will confirm what can be addressed at your location before anything is scheduled.
- 04
A look at other fly sources
Dog waste is not the only thing flies breed in. University pest guidance points to garbage and decaying organic matter in general, which in a backyard can mean trash bins, spilled pet food and compost. Keeping garbage and pet waste bagged and sealed, with bin lids closed, removes places flies develop. Pickup handles the dog waste; the rest is worth a look around your own yard.
- 05
A fly option in the free treatment, once confirmed
The free treatment starts with a sanitizer, followed by either an enzyme deodorizer or a fly option, depending on the yard and what you ask for. Ask whether the fly option is available for your yard, and treat regular pickup as the step you can count on.
- 06
Why the larvae matter more than the adults
The flies you swat are the last stage. A female house fly lays her eggs in animal waste or other moist organic material, in several batches of about 100 to 150 eggs, and in summer heat the young can become adult flies in as little as a week. University of California pest guidance calls the larval stage the best target, because removing the material they grow in breaks the cycle before the next round of adults appears.
- 07
Which wasp you are looking at
Not every wasp is the same problem. University of California guidance describes yellowjackets as short-waisted and bright yellow and black, drawn to food and garbage, nesting in the ground, in old rodent burrows or inside walls, and quick to defend the nest. Paper wasps are slender and long-legged, hang open, umbrella-shaped nests under eaves, and rarely sting unless the nest is near a door or window. Mud daubers build small mud nests and seldom sting at all. Describing what you see helps any conversation about it.
- 08
Who in the house reacts to stings
Reactions to a sting range from brief, sharp pain to swelling and itching, and for some people a life-threatening allergic response, the same guidance notes. If anyone at home has a known allergy, say so when you describe a wasp problem. It changes how urgent a nest near the back door is.
When You Need It
When do you need Fly & Wasp Control?
If any of this sounds familiar, it's time.
Flies and wasps are a normal part of warm months in the borderland. These are situations worth asking about.
- 01
Flies gather around the dog area
If flies collect where your dogs go, waste is very likely part of the reason. Regular pickup is the first step.
- 02
You see wasps around the yard
Wasps often build nests under eaves, in block walls and around play equipment. Keep pets and children away from an active nest, and ask us what we can offer.
- 03
Summer makes everything worse
Heat speeds up how quickly waste breaks down and how quickly flies multiply, so regular pickup matters most in the hot months.
- 04
You are thinking about fly traps
Traps help less than people hope when the source is still in the yard. University of California pest guidance says sticky fly paper is fine for a few flies in a closed space but not for an outdoor problem. Bait traps can work, but mostly when they are not competing with nearby garbage or animal waste, and their bait smells foul enough that they belong well away from the house.
- 05
You want the yard sprayed
A spray is the first thing many people picture. The same guidance says that in most home situations pesticides are not needed or recommended, because they work mainly on adult flies and leave the places flies breed untouched, so the next round arrives soon after. House flies have also become resistant to many of the products registered against them, and some of those products are restricted to professional applicators. Removing waste and garbage comes first.
- 06
Flies hover over the patio
If small flies circle at head height under a covered patio or in a breezeway, they may be little house flies rather than house flies. University of California guidance notes that they gather in still, shaded air around patios, entryways and garages, rarely land on food, and break up when a strong fan moves the air. They also breed in animal waste and moist organic matter, so the same cleanup still applies.
- 07
Flies are getting into the house
Flies found inside a home almost always came in from outside, the same guidance says, so the first defense indoors is keeping them out: sealing gaps around windows and doors and keeping screens well fitted. The guidance names poor screening and poor sanitation as the main causes of house fly problems. A yard with fewer places for flies to breed can send fewer of them toward the door.
- 08
Wasps find the dog bowl
Yellowjackets scavenge, and pet food counts. University of California guidance on social wasps says to keep food, pet food included, covered or indoors when they are around, and to keep garbage in sealed cans that are emptied regularly. A bowl of kibble left on the patio through a summer afternoon can bring them right to where the dogs eat.
- 09
A nest is starting under the eaves
Spring is when queens start new nests. UC guidance notes that early in the season, knocking down a newly started paper wasp nest usually sends the founding female somewhere else, while a nest left alone keeps growing into summer. A paper wasp nest well away from where people and dogs spend time may not need treatment at all.
- 10
Wasps fly in and out of a hole in the yard
That is probably a yellowjacket nest, and it should be left undisturbed. When a nest has to go, UC guidance calls professional help the easiest and safest route. Keep the dogs away from that part of the yard until it is dealt with, and if anything is sprayed, the National Pesticide Information Center advises keeping pets off the treated area until it is completely dry.
- 11
You are thinking about wasp traps
Traps are a yellowjacket tool. UC guidance says lure traps can cut the number of yellowjackets foraging around a patio, but they do not get rid of a large population, and trapping is not suggested for other kinds of social wasps. Hang them around the edges of the yard, away from where people and dogs spend their time.
- 12
Flies are biting the dogs' ears
That may be the stable fly, which University of California guidance says is also called the dog fly because it bites around the edges of dogs' ears. Unlike the house fly, it breeds in moist grass clippings and compost, especially when they are mixed with animal waste and urine. Pickup removes the waste. Bagging wet clippings, or turning the compost pile, takes away the rest of what it needs.

Fly & Wasp Control FAQ
Common questions about fly & wasp control.
If your question isn't on the list, give us a call.
Do you spray for flies or wasps?
Ask what fly and wasp options are currently available at your address before arranging service.
Will picking up dog waste help with flies?
Waste is a common place for flies to breed, so removing it regularly helps take away what draws them to the yard. Other sources, like trash bins and compost, matter too.
Will scooping alone get rid of flies?
Not on its own, and no one can promise that it will. Removing dog waste takes away one place flies breed, but trash, compost, nearby yards and the weather all play a part. Think of pickup as the first step, not the whole answer.
How do I get a price?
Send the short quote form or call. Price depends on details like how many dogs you have, your yard, and how often you want service, and GP Scoops goes over it with you before any service starts.
What schedules can I choose?
The quote form lets you say what you have in mind: weekly, every other week, twice a week, a one-time cleanup, or not sure yet. We talk through the options when we follow up.
What happens after I send the form?
Your request is saved so GP Scoops can follow up. You are asking GP Scoops to contact you at the number you gave, to confirm your yard, your dogs and the price.
Who owns GP Scoops?
