How the free treatment works

Sanitizer first, then a deodorizer or a fly option

Ask about it when you request a quote. Which option fits depends on your yard and what you ask for.

  1. 01

    Pickup comes first

Treatment is meant for a yard that has just been picked up, so it goes with a scooping visit.

  2. 02

    A sanitizer

The free treatment starts with a sanitizer on the areas your dogs use. We will tell you which product we use before we apply it.

  3. 03

Then a deodorizer or a fly option

An enzyme deodorizer for odor, or a fly option where flies are the bigger complaint. Ask whether the fly option is available for your yard.

Before a treatment

What to know before anything goes on the yard

Getting the yard ready for a treatment

Because sanitizers are registered as pesticides, pesticide safety advice applies to them. The National Pesticide Information Center at Oregon State University suggests a simple routine for anything applied where pets live: bring the pets in first, pick up toys, chew bones, food bowls and bedding, follow the label, and keep the animals away until the treated area is completely dry. The label may ask for longer. Ask how long the specific product needs before your dogs go back out, and plan the visit around it.

What the words on a label mean

Deodorizer, sanitizer and disinfectant are not interchangeable words. A deodorizer is aimed at smell. Under EPA rules, a product that claims to sanitize or disinfect a surface is registered as an antimicrobial pesticide. Sanitizing is aimed at bacteria and is not meant to kill viruses. Disinfecting covers both and has to clear stricter testing, and many products are registered as both. A product that only cleans or deodorizes, with no claim to kill germs, is not one the EPA registers this way. When you ask which product would be used, its label shows whether it claims to deodorize, sanitize or disinfect.
